Special Big Sister Day

Well, voodoo person, thank you.
Apparently, you read my plea and you agreed to give us a break.
Little One's tummy has finally sorted itself out for the most part, Her rash is all but gone, and there are no new injuries or accidents to report (knock wood).
So J and I did what seems to be our new tradition, and tempted fate by taking Her on a Big Day Out pretty much the second She seemed passably well enough to justify it.
And it was a great day!
It was Little One's Special Big Sister Day.
We took Her to the hospital for the "sibling class", where She got to tour the delivery/recovery rooms to see where She will first visit Baby Sister when She comes.  She listened to the teacher talk about what to expect, and watched an amazingly strange and obnoxious movie, which all the kids loved.

She got to practice holding a "baby" and being gentle, and then colored a special picture to save for Baby Sister.

She wore Her special "Big Sister" shirt, and was very proud of Herself as well as Her baby, who was included in the class with hugs and kisses from Little One.

She loved getting to "hang out with these other big sister brother kids",  and was altogether super excited about the whole thing. We made a big deal of it so She knows how important She will be as a Big Sister, and how confident we are that She will be great at it.
Afterward, we took her to a kids play area She likes, where She had a blast (and we were not begging for Her to sick again at all).

Then we took Her out for a special lunch. We went to a great Vietnamese place for one of Her all time favorite foods, Pho noodle soup, and Her new obsession- tofu.  She ate so much it was amazing.  It should not even be possible.  But, She continued to inform us, She is after all a Big Girl now. So She can eat like one!
After a nice long nap at home, She got one more Big Girl treat.
Since She's recovered from Her cold (i.e. stopped oozing all over everything) I finally set up Her "big girl bed" the way it was originally intended, with the pretty comforter and throw pillows my mom made.  Little One love, love, loves Her "big girl princess" bed.  The only problem is that She wanted to sleep with the throw pillows. When I told Her they were just for day time, She counter-argued that mommy and daddy have sleeping pillows, and if She was a Big Girl with a Big Girl bed, She should get a 'pinow' too. A good point.  So I had promised Her that on Her special Big Girl/Big Sister day, She would get a Big Girl pillow.  And She did!
I thought it was the perfect easy project to break in the new sewing machine my mom got me for Christmas.  I made Her a Little One-sized pillow and a couple of cases out of scrap fabric and batting I had laying around the house.  It was free, and Little One loves it.

It was a great day.  It's so fun to see Her not only feeling well, but full off happiness and excitement and pride.  We all had fun spending the whole day together, and I think we did a pretty good job of making the argument that Little One becoming a Big Girl is a fun, good thing.
Although to be honest, I can't say for sure who we were trying hardest to convince.
