Missy is still into babies. OH is She into babies.
Especially now that Her older sister in in school mornings and there is no one to supersede Her in pretend games, She is a Mama all the time. Here She is with a whole fleet of babies, each changed and fed, rocked and tucked in for naps.
Today I heard a whimpering in down the hall and went to investigate. There She was, melted into a puddle of dress in the middle of the hall, holding a necklace and weeping.
C: "Goodness, Missy. What is the matter here?"
Miss: "Oh, noooo. Oh no! I can't. I CAN'T!"
C: "Whoa, calm down! Calm down, love! What is the problem? I can try to help you."
Miss sniffles: "I no can put it on. It won't. Won't go on. Now, I never can. I never be a MOM-eee!"
She held out the necklace and turned away. The horror! She couldn't even look at it!
C: "...You can't get the necklace on because of the clasp, and now you can't be a mommy. Is that it."
Miss: "A-a-a-and I WANT be a mommy! I always want be a MOMee!"
I clasped the beads around Her neck, and She clapped Her hands, relieved, and thanked me. I had to ask.
"But Miss, why can't you be a Mommy without the necklace?"
Miss looks at me like I don't know a single thing about the world. Obviously.
Miss: "Pi-cause. If you be a Mommy, have a have puh-ruhls. Mommies always have some puh-ruls. Now I have some puh-ruls, I be a MOMMY!"
