Hypocrisy

Some days ago, in the get-to-school rush, on a busy day, I grabbed a marker and wrote an address I needed on my hand as I dashed out the door.
Missy, who loves to put on her "makesup", has been admonished several times for putting Her markers towards this purpose.  It is a frequently reinforced rule in our house that markers and crayons are Only For Paper.  I did not consider this as I scribbled that address.
As I buckled Miss into Her car seat, She grabbed my wrist and gasped.

Miss:"Mommy! What this coloring here all 'bout?!"

C: "oh! That? Um, we'll that is, it's just...it...."

Miss (shaking Her head): "oh, Mommy.  You color onna self.  You not coloring on paper."

C: "well, I...uh...well, see no its...hmm"

Miss: "Uh oh, Momma.  You gonna get in big trouble here. You gonna get in some big trouble with...YOURSELF!"

Well, She was right.  As the family Rule Enforcer, I had an obligation to uphold the law.
I put myself in time out, and I wasn't allowed to play with markers all day.

  1. I am CONSTANTLY being reminded of the rules I have made and how I break them. UGH...hard to be a good role model but get things done quickly and efficiently. Too bad we can't send ourselves to time out ;)
