Luck of the Irish

I hope you had a Happy St. Patrick's Day! I hope you didn't get pinched.
The holiday was a big buzz around here all month, thanks to the preschool talking up leprechauns and preparing to attempt catching one.  The class made a leprechaun trap, and on St. Patrick's Day came to school to find that though one had apparently been caught, it had escaped to wreak havoc on the whole school.  It was a mess, everything mixed up, green stuff and gold confetti everywhere.
Little One is my tiny inventor.  She created several ingenious and complex traps out of discarded boxes, construction paper, and glue.  She added gold coins and made a whole leprechaun habitat to entice one in.  She spent hours on these traps, and they were pretty cool.  Missy made quite a few Herself. Hers were more streamlined in design, but elaborately decorated with rainbows of color.  They took most of them to school to aid in the greater effort of the class, but each set one out at home too, just in case.  Sadly leprechauns are very tricky, and we didn't catch any.  But they must have been impressed by the effort, because each Sister found a shiny quarter in their trap in the morning (I'm thinking of setting some myself next near), and they did find their oatmeal had been turned green with yellow raisin chunks of "gold" at breakfast.  As for me, I caught three mischievous leprechauns.  I wore my green, didn't get pinched, and can say for sure that I was very, very lucky.
