The base has several pools and lots of kids to swipe floaty toys from when they're too busy crying that the water is scary.
And when too many of them started swiping stuff back, we just
wandered down to the Chesapeake beach to play in the waves and sand.
Then we went back to try out the de-sanding properties of the other pool, before moving on to the playgrounds, and then the beachfront for a yummy lunch where there were crayons!
At this charming little venue, Little One acquired a skill, with no coaching at all!- that took Her another step further from toddlerhood and into childhood. She learned to blow bubbles in Her drink with the straw.
Probably we should not have allowed that. Probably, we at least should not have giggled to each other. Or cheered Her on. We will likely rue that reaction when She's like 7 in a fancy restaurant and we're crying, "for the love of pete will you stop turning your shirly temple into
picked up some fruits and veggies at the best roadside stand, that made all the store-bought produce in our kitchen blush self-consciously and try to cover their stickers. As far as Little One is concerned, this was a day of total awesomeness. And, (especially since J turned those veggies into a yummy dinner while I sat on the couch and looked at the funnies with Little One) it was.
